Final Submission

https://dambro8826.wixsite.com/d3designs I changed around some fonts and some colors to match and go with the entire theme of the webpage. The logo on the top left brings you back to the home page, and the arrows on the sides do navigate to the next or previous pages. I also created social media pages that, when clicked, the social media icons bring you to. In all, I'm very happy and proud of how this website came out!

Website Link

https://dambro8826.wixsite.com/d3designs Link to my Website! I'm still trying to decide what to put in the home page to make it feel less boring, but everything else is pretty much how I'd like it. I'm open to any thoughts as always though!

Website Sketch

Image
For this project, I've decided I'd like to create a website. I plan to make a fairly simple, but nice looking portfolio type page, showcasing my work as well as offering similar services to other people, i.e., create a logo for them. I intend to have some simple designs incorporated, perhaps a clean, but unique bar where the "About Me," "Portfolio," etc. are. I think this should be a fun and very helpful project as making websites seems to be a really great thing to know how to do these days. Here are some very basic sketches of whats in my head for my portfolio.

Final Poster

Image
I decided to change the main idea of my poster from the one I had originally chosen to this design as someone had suggested to me for a few reasons. It is more simple to understand and get the point of the poster, it suggests something that can be done to directly help save the planet, and I'm not entirely sure if I would be able to complete the other design I had. I'll admit that this design looks so much more boring than I had envisioned in my head and took way to long considering that. I used photoshop to prepare the images and adjust the colors of the beetle and the planet, as well as remove the text from the bicycle, and I used illustrator to actually put the poster together and add text and design. Here is the final poster: And the images I used to create it:

Competition Sketch

Image
https://graphiccompetitions.com/graphic-design/poster-for-tomorrow-2018-call-for-entries http://www.posterfortomorrow.org/en/projects/a-planet-for-tomorrow I chose a competition called, “A Planet for Tomorrow,” aimed to spread awareness and help save our planet. I had a few potential designs in mind, but have settled on one where a person is walking along a road, abandoning their car, to a part of the road that is overgrown and bustling with nature and peacefulness, trees along the road, a beautiful bright sky in the distance. The foreground will be dark and dreary looking in comparison and I think I'll put a relevant logo of some sort on the side. I'll be using illustrator to draw necessary images, such as the trees, and Photoshop to merge a few images and color the drawings for the final poster. I apologize if the image is a bit hard to see, as the pencil wasn’t quite dark enough in some areas for my scanner. I’ll be sure to make it a bit darker next time around. ...

CD Booklet

Image
I'd like to point out first that while doing this project, my hard drive is starting to fail and I've had a lot of trouble loading adobe apps. I would try to open a new document and the page would just flash, my hard drive would go to 100% usage and photoshop, illustrator, or indesign would not respond and I'd have to close them out. I did manage to create each of the individual pages, but was unable to group pages 2&3, 4&5, and 6&7 because of the above issue. I have already ordered a new hard drive and it should be here and I'll install it early this week and this should no longer be an issue (I sure hope so at least). I have no issues with modifying the project once I get the new drive to fit the projects guidelines, but nonetheless, here it is. I tried to stick to my original plan as much as possible, and I feel that I did a fair job in doing so. I particularly like the way the pages with the images behind the lyrics look, as the other ones looked a lit...

Album Design

Image
For my album, I decided to take 8 very guitar heavy songs that have inspired me throughout my life. I've played guitar for more than half my life and these 8 songs were some of the biggest influences on my style and even starting to play. The album name I think should be “Guitar Greats,” as it is a simple name but tells what the album will be about and still being catchy and memorable. The design for the cover I plan to make is simple. I plan to have an image of a guitar at roughly a 45 degree angle with the word Guitar above and Greats below it. The back will have the titles and durations of the songs. The inner 6 pages of the booklet will feature the 6 songs which have lyrics and their lyrics and relevant images and credits. The 8 songs I chose for the album are: Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, Lewis and Clark by Tommy Emmanuel, Classical Gas by Tommy Emmanuel, Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin November Rain by Guns N’ Roses, Beggars and Hangers On by Slash and M...

Album Covers

Image
Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd - The album shows a white light entering a prism. When pure white light goes through a prism, it comes out showing all if the colors in the color spectrum, as illustrated by the rainbow on the other side of the prism in the album. The background behind the prism is very dark and draws a lot of attention to the prism. This album is incredibly successful and is what people think of when they hear “Pink Floyd.” Under the Iron Sea by Keane - This album really caught my attention. The cover features water a the bottom and on it appear to be swimming horses. A few of these horses are black with red eyes and the others are a blue or greenish color. They represent the front design of ships like pirate ships that would be used for sailing hundreds of years ago. In all, it's a very unique and interesting album cover. Appetite for Destruction by Guns 'n’ Roses - This is another incredibly famous album cover. It features the band's name at ...

Print Ready Business Card

Image
(Read more will display the proper size) Here are my print ready business cards. I wasn't able to export them as an image from acrobat for some reason, I simply did not have the option, so I took a screen shot of the card areas and created a new image of the areas and uploaded them. Unfortunately, it made it so that the image isn't 100% perfectly clear, but until I figure out why I was unable to export it properly, this is what I have.

Hudson Valley Inn

Image
I tried a few different things with these logos. For the main Inn logo, I originally thought to make the "n's" in "inn" look like doors to show guests that they are welcomed there, but I ended up creating the word "inn," very large with a roof over it and in the "n's," I wrote the words Hudson and Valley as if looking through windows of the inn. For the bar, I decided quickly on a name, "Riverside Sippin'." I thought this was a clever name and decided to make the "S" in "sippin'" look like a river and put the word "riverside" next to it. For the restaurant, I decided to name it the "Bistro Boat." I took the "T" in "Bistro" and made it look like a sail and put the word "Boat" under the deck of the boat, while "Bistro" was on top. It was definitely fun but challenging to create these logos in Illustrator. I think that the "Bistr...

Word Illustrations

Image
Here are my hand drawn words. For the noun, I used my girlfriend's name, "Priya", for the verb, I used the word "Dance," and for the adjective, I used the word, "graceful," but for graceful, I capitalized FULL to impose the meaning "Full of grace." I certainly underestimated how hard it would be to recreate this on illustrator as a first time user, but I recreated my girlfriend's name as it was my favorite of the three words I drew.

Artist's Statement

I use art as a way to express myself. I use it to express what I cannot say in words. I have always felt that words can't always tell other people what I want them to hear or feel, and to me, this is apparent when I create or when I see art. For a long time, the only such outlet of art I've had has been music, I've played guitar for over ten years now. But now, I'm starting to use graphic design as a way to express myself as well, and I've been enjoying it very much. I like having multiple different outlets, and it's great that each targets a different sense. Music targets sound, and design targets sight. Humans as a whole are a very visual people. We love bright colors and we like creating things that stimulate our eyes in so many different ways, and it's amazing that through the use of Photoshop and other programs, I can contribute to this and create digital art while expressing myself to others. I can't wait to grow and learn as an artist and a graphi...
